Focus Pull Fireworks

Image
This is a really cool effect achieved by a long exposure, and focusing and refocusing on the fireworks. Photos below are from photographer David Jones's "How I Took It" 2012 contest entry. "How I Took It" is one of DIY Photography's tutorial contests to share with their subscribers.  The photos below push the boundaries of bokeh and frozen motion in a long-exposure. See the tutorial on  DIY Photography  and photographer Davey Johnson's  website

3D Printing Pen

Image
How cool is this? Like a glue gun and a 3D printer in one, this pen allows you to sketch whatever you want in 3D! The pen melts the material and it cools quickly in the air. Just press the button and sketch!  WATCH THE VIDEO The 3Doodler

Photos of Falling and Flying

Image
One of my favorite inspirations come from photographers and dancers who collaborate on "flying" or "falling" images. It is something I would like to explore, both with the performance aspect and the image capture component. The images below, by Denis Darzacq, show dancers and performers hovering right above the ground as if they had been falling. Darzacq captured the photo at the exact moment that conveyed the most realistic "fall."     See the full article - another post on Ozarts Etc. My original inspiration: Daniel Gordon I discovered this artist about four or five years ago in research for a concept to build a glass table. His photos inspired me to create a piece using three layers of glass, each screenprinted with a different image, creating a 3D floating image.   With a camera set on a timer (or an assistant), Gordon performed these images many times to get the most beautiful shot. He wanted to see how it would look if he could

For my next party - an Instagram Printer

Image
For my wedding, I would LOVE to have some of these: instant printers connected to Instagram. When people post photos tagged with certain hashtags, the post gets sent directly to the printer and you get a "polaroid" print! Such a neat idea! (The printers are not available yet ;-/ sadly. But hopefully soon... ) Photos from their website See the  Original Post  on Ozartsetc.com Check out Breakfast NY's other projects:  http://breakfastny.com/projects/

Tattoo Archive, North Carolina

Image
Just began some research on the Tattoo Archive in North Carolina. A colleague told me about it and it seems like it would be a great place for my books. The store in NC is a custom tattoo shop as well as a library of books, reference material, and tattoo "odds and ends." Sounds like I may need to take a road trip... Ravens Rally, Baltimore, MD

Image
What a day! We went to the Ravens Rally at M&T Bank Stadium this week and had such a great time! We watched the parade from seats in the upper endzone and then cheered on our Superbowl Champs as they came into the stadium with the Lombardi trophy.  Ray Lewis' entrance dance 90,000 fans packed the stadium Walking on the field after it cleared out a bit
