Human Landscapes

Image
When this guy has some time on his hands, he spends it handling bodies and food. Carl Warner is a photographer who meticulously arranges the images digitally into Human Landscapes and Foodscapes . He's based in a London studio where he can completely control the light and shooting atmosphere. The hairless, golden-tan bodies in his photos are flawless (thanks to Photoshop or good genes) and he seamlessly stitches them together, adds some sky, and accomplishes an almost-realistic desert or rock formation. What I like most about these photos is that, even though they are resized and arranged in a new way, the bodies themselves are not compromised. They read true to a human form, as long you can figure out at which part of the body you're looking.  Desert of Backs  The Cave of Abdo-Men Shin Knee Valley Headless Horizon Photos above copyright Carl Warner.  Check out some of his  other work , too. via thisiscolossal.com Here is some of my own body work:

Spider Monday

It's an all-new Spider Monday! Check out these amazing images by Singapore-based macro photographer Nicky Bay . I admire his photos of spiders and insects because it's the caliber of work that I would like to do: focusing on the tiny, beautiful creatures on Earth. Spider Monday

Happy Monday!  This morning I shot some photos of a spider, some flies, and a moth. It was nice to get back to the insects after a weekend ups and downs (rain, plans with friends, late nights...) The spider and moth didn't even notice me, but the flies would sit still until my lens was closer than about 2 or 3 inches to their faces. Then they'd fly around in a frenzy and land again. Hiding in a mess of webs... This pose I call the "Praying Fly." Don't you just want to give this little guy a hug? www.amyhefterphotography.com

Shark Week is THIS SUNDAY!

Image
Every summer, Discovery Channel runs an entire week of shark-only programming . What's better than watching the sea predators do their thing?  Shark Week begins Sunday, August 4 at 8|7c only on the Discovery Channel Check out this year's promo video: You can also watch the live Shark Cam, installed at the Georgia Aquarium, 24 hours a day. The Georgia Aquarium has whale sharks (my favorite), and it's amazing to watch them swimming.  Watch the live Shark Cam Some awesome Shark Week videos: Videos from DiscoveryChannel.com Volkwagen partnered with Discovery Channel to create a VW shark cage, which actually drives on the ocean floor!
