Planets Constructed from Photos Taken on Earth - Spherical Panoramas

These photo compilations bend reality, literally, until you're looking at the world in a circle. Using an extreme wide-angle lens, the scene is photographed in 360° from the point of origin (the camera on a tripod). The photos are then seamlessly merged in Photoshop to create an image that looks like another planet. See work below from several artists, some of whom manually stitch their images together and some who automate.

The photos below were made using hundreds of photos, and are exhibited as 40"x40" prints.

Pili castle little planet panorama at Kos island. A strong artificial blue light, overpowers the Milky Way band at this strange, parrot head-like panorama.
This is a 360 degree panorama taken from inside Sounio temple. Various constellations are visible like the Big Dipper, next to the Athens light pollution, between the pillars, and the Orion at the upper right corner of the photo.
