The Frankfurt Flughafen, KinderEggs, and Bier

We flew out of Istanbul around 8am (having waited in the airport for 4 hours) and landed in Frankfurt. Everything was in German!

Outside the people mover tram from the terminal to the exit:

We navigated to the car rental place on the far side of the airport and picked up our car. A comfy 5-seater, we packed the trunk and headed to Erding, outside of Munich. On our way to Erding, we stopped at a few gas stations and rest stops, and they were incredible! Since you have to pay to use public restrooms in Europe, they are significantly more well-maintained. Also, sometimes you get a .50 Euro coupon to use in the stores or restaurants at the rest stops, essentially giving you your 1/2 Euro back.
At one of these rest stops, I bought a KinderEgg! These were banned in the United States because they posed a choking hazard to young children. They've modified their toys inside to include larger pieces so it's less of a hazard, but parents still need to be careful.
Yay, an egg!
I got so excited that my KinderEgg had a Minion inside!! Alas, it was just the capsule for the toy:
I got a skateboard! It came in two pieces and had a sticker. A Tech Deck it's not, but still exciting!
This is the oldest restaurant in Germany, the Zum Weinwirt. It was about a 10 minute walk from our hotel.
Beer cost either less than or equal to the cost of water in Europe.
This beer in particular was brewed right in Erding, only a few miles from this restaurant!
I ordered a vegetarian Potato Soup with croutons, and a Grilled Camembert with Cranberry Jam, and they were delicious! All the portions at this place were generous, and very affordable.
Group photo! First night in Germany.
Gute Nacht! (Good night!)
